Hi!  I'm Dr Abbie Tipler, a Specialist Small Animal Surgeon practising in Brisbane at Veterinary Specialist Services (VSS) Jindalee.

During my training as a Specialist Surgeon at the prestigious VSS hospitals, I picked up some tips and tricks for avoiding complications that are not necessarily obvious in textbooks. They are the small bad habits you may pick up in general practice (well I did, anyway), but are integral to performing successful, delicate, complication-free surgery. Specialist surgical training is vigorous, and not for the light-hearted.

To achieve this, I have aimed to make tips videos and 'quick procedure video' reminders, which can be helpful to practitioners who have the basics of a procedure mastered, but need a reminder of the key steps that avoid pit-falls and complications. I intend to keep this updated as my career develops and ​whenever I think 'I wish I had known this as a GP', a new post is created. ​​​
